This in itself is homophobic aggression towards the community as a whole. While the author in the story is not a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, this situation highlights how the legitimate lifestyle of others is used as a casual and recurring insult in everyday life.
A person's lifestyle choices are not the business of anyone else.
